I make things. I think I always have. Even as a child I remember expressing myself by creating things. Carving, collage, drawing and making toys and things. Today I make sculpture, furniture, mobiles and recently I’ve started to paint. As with all artists my work is a personal, an almost autobiographical expression. I am having fun. Making my art is about discovery and the journey. This is playtime to me. Bill Lowrey was born and raised in Boulder Colorado. His formal education ended after a couple of false starts at college. In his late 30’s he took up photography as a hobby and set up a small woodworking shop. He remembered the fun he had doing sculpture as a kid and began doing some small works based on what he recalled of those early pieces. In the last year he has taken up painting. His work so far is all geometric abstraction on paper using watercolor and metal leaf.
