These postcard-sized drawings are investigations of color, composition, and layering. In contrast to lengthy and multi-step printmaking processes, the drawings are immediate responses to my current environment and ideas. I use these small spaces to play and experiment, sending out messages through these “compact signals.” Ashley L Schick received her MFA in printmaking at SCAD-Atlanta. She describes herself as a printmaker, bookmaker, and gatherer. Her current series of work explores how the keeping and retelling of stories, along with her distance or proximity to them, alters how she defines herself and her environment.
