Inspired by my friend Ruth Kessler’s poem “Hummingbird” and using papers made by Velma Bolyard from plants grown on her Upstate NY farm, I aimed to create a book with the lightweight & fleeting quality of the poets words and the illusive tiny bird itself. Sue Huggins Leopard lives and works in Rochester, NY. Leopard Studio Editions was established in 2002 and operates from a restored 1883 carriage house adjacent to a large perennial garden, a source of material and inspiration for many of her works. Pieces over the past decade, artists’ books that allude to dream, memory, and a sense of wonder, draw from her many years as a printmaker. Her work is widely exhibited and held in public and private collections internationally. |
