A loose, unfolding assemblage, with the book’s title guiding the choice of collaged materials. Brass slot hinges allow full rotation of a composite accordion structure. Like much of my work, the book quotes freely from the history of art and science. Susan Collard is an architect and book artist in Portland, Oregon. She has been making one-of-a-kind collaged and constructed artist’s books since 1991. Her work has been featured in many group shows, including the Interactive Artifacts exhibit at Abecedarian Gallery (2011).
