Suzanne SawyerAtlanta, Georgia, USAA Burlap Bloomhandmade cotton/abaca paper, walnut dyed flax, rubberbased ink, collaged handmade paper 8 x 8 ½ x ¼ $ 295© 2013 edition size: 75 A Burlap Bloom was letterpress printed using reduction linoleum blocks and photopolymer plates. A Burlap Bloom is a collaboration with poet Eder J. Williams McKnight. The images of the book were inspired by aerial landscapes and microscopic images of plants. Both Eder and Suzanne are descendents of quilters and this book honors that tradition. Suzanne Sawyer just completed her MFA in Book Arts from The University of Alabama - Tuscaloosa and, in September, will be joining Atlanta Printmakers Studio as their Education Director. Suzanne also holds a BFA in Art Education from VCU and worked for 11 years as a high school art teacher in Los Angeles and Atlanta. Suzanne is proprietor of Down Home Girl Studio and works in a variety of media areas including sculpture, handmade paper, books, drawings, letterpress printing, and printmaking. |
