Extended Horizons - September 19 - October 19, 2013 The world of artists’ books is one inhabited by hard working individuals of skill, intelligence, wit and generosity. Happily complementing their efforts are numerous organizations developed to support the field. One of the larger such organizations is the Guild of Book Workers. Although not affiliated with the Guild of Book Workers, without the ongoing efforts of the Guild’s traveling exhibition program, the Extended Horizons exhibit would not exist. The Guild’s current traveling exhibit, Horizons, on view at University of Denver August through October 2013, includes the work of 53 North American artists, twenty of whom have been selected for the Extended Horizons exhibit at Abecedarian. Several of the artists in Extended Horizons are ones whose work has been previously exhibited at Abecedarian a time or two, some are artists I work with often, others are exhibiting here for the first time. In addition to holding the work of every artist in the exhibit in high regard, their ongoing and solid support of Abecedarian is not only appreciated but is fundamental to the gallery’s continuing success.
