The sequence of images can be viewed as a narrative in the manner of a comic book. On careful inspection the reader may notice alphabet letters showing through from a layer underneath the images. It turns out that each image corresponds to the thing that gave rise to a corresponding ancient Cretan pictograph which in turn evolved into a Greek and then Roman alphabet letter.
