Lovers Game is a vintage two-drawer watch parts cabinet with its original glass vials. Each glass vial contains one archival inkjet-printed word on Hahnemühle Copperplate paper. The words in the ”I love you” drawer all sweet and dreamy, the ones in the ”I love you not” are not so sugary. It is up to the player(s) to form sentences by mixing up the vials, as is done with magnetic refrigerator poetry.

Merike van Zanten got her BA (Hons) Ceramics from the University of the Creative Arts, Rochester, England. In 2002 she came to the USA, and began working in the book arts. She has done commissioned work in the USA and The Netherlands, and has work in private collections in The Netherlands, England, and the USA.
