Fe-O is a book created in collaboration with Seoul artist JongKu Kim.

During steel milling, the elements oxygen and iron are actively bonding, producing iron oxide. Named after the scientific abbreviation of this compound, Fe-O embodies the chemical reaction incurred during the filing process.

Kim’s meditative method of artistic production is comparable to the grinding of ink stone for traditional Eastern calligraphy. Drawing its structure from process, Fe-O is a space where artist duels, surrenders and finally creates.

Sammy Seung-min Lee is a book artist based in Denver, Colorado. Born in Seoul, South Korea, she studied fine art and media design at UCLA and earned her Master’s Degree in architecture from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
