General Concept
Celebrate! is the third in an on going series of satellite art exhibits. Orchestrated by Abecedarian Gallery, the exhibit will be on view at University Libraries, University of Denver, Denver, Colorado. International in scope, the exhibit will feature works that celebrate any aspect of food, dance or music.

Eligibility
• This exhibition is open to any artist 18 years of age or older.
• If you live outside the United States, please contact gallery for additional submission guidelines.
• Eligible are any artist bookworks other than SPOD (Self Published On Demand such as Lulu, Blurb and so forth). Books may be editioned or unique, sculptural or more traditionally bound, interactive or passive.
• All entries must be available for sale during the exhibition dates. The prices you submit during the entry process are the retail prices the gallery will adhere to throughout the duration of the exhibition.


Restrictions:
• Books that measure more than 14 inches (closed) in any dimension are ineligible.
• Wall works are ineligible.
• If your work requires special installation, please inquire before submitting your entry to be certain the exhibition venue will accommodate entry requirements.

Juror’s purchase awards:
A minimum of one work will be selected for purchase by Baylor University Libraries, Waco, Texas.

Submission process:
Entry process is online only.
Fees:
Submission fees are PER ARTWORK, not per artist.
Submissions made through December 23, 2016: $12 per artwork.
Submissions made after December 23, 2016: $15 per artwork.
• A discount is offered to artists who have submitted to previous juried exhibitions at Abecedarian Gallery or have work currently consigned to Abecedarian Gallery. Please contact gallery for coupon code prior to submission. To receive the discount, coupon code must be entered during submission process.

• A discount is offered to artists enrolled full-time in a degree program. Please contact gallery for coupon code prior to submission. To receive the discount, coupon code must be entered during submission process.

The above mentioned discount is $12 per submission (i.e. the same amount as the early bird submission fee) and will not be available until December 24, 2016


• Submission fees are non-refundable. Be sure to ascertain if your work is eligible for entry prior to submission.


Images:
• A minimum of two and maximum of four images per submission is allowed.
• Composite images, or images with embedded text are ineligible and will not be included in the jury process.
• You must name your images using the following convention:
First Initial-Last Name-First word of title-Second word of title-number.jpg. For example: J-Doe-My-Book–1.jpg, J-Doe-My-Book–2.jpg
Please use hyphens between words as indicated.

Improperly named images won’t be linked to your submission details - the juror might not receive complete details about your images if your files are improperly named.


Image formatting:
Save as jpgs, 300 ppi, 2100 pixels on the longest dimension, as print quality RGB files. Flatten layers prior to saving. Do NOT send TIFFs. Files thus sized will range from 1.5 - 4mb each.
Please: • Use studio lighting on a gray or off white background.
• Adjust color balance before submission.
• Use a digital camera with a minimum resolution of 8 megapixels, not a cell phone.Any work represented with substandard images will be re-photographed at artists’ expense.
• Review 23 Sandy Gallery’s blog post about photographing artworks for helpful guidelines.


Selected work FYI
Publicity
• Press kits will be sent to local & regional traditional media.
• Online announcements will be made to all applicable online sites & listservs.
• The exhibit will be publicized in the gallery’s e-mail newsletter, website & blog with images of accepted entries posted online via various social media platforms.

• The exhibit will be publicized in the University of Denver's campus e-mail newsletter, website & blog with images of accepted entries posted online via various social media platforms.


Catalogs:
• There will be a full color print catalog produced in conjunction with the exhibition. Print catalogs will be for sale after the exhibition.
• There will be an online color catalog in conjunction with the exhibition. The online catalog will remain online indefinitely.


Other:
• Roundtrip shipping and insurance is the responsibility of the artist.
• Gallery retains a 40% commission on works sold through the gallery.
• All work will be displayed in glass cases.
• On acceptance to the exhibition, a consignment agreement and delivery guidelines will be sent to each participating artist, along with any additional information or changes.
• Works will be insured for 60% of retail value while on display.
Note the following caveats:

• Insurance does not cover damages resulting from flaws inherent in the artwork.
• Insurance does not cover damages resulting from earthquakes, flood or other such natural disasters.
•Submission of entry constitutes agreement to all conditions in this prospectus.
• The artist agrees that images of selected artwork and the submitted text can be used by the gallery for promotions and publications.
