Entry Fees
Artists can enter a total of five individual works. The first entry is $16. Additional entries are $12 each. Entry fees are non-refundable.

 

Abecedarian Gallery's final exhibition for 2012 is a national juried exhibition of small scale artworks - an expanded version of these guidelines can be downloaded as a PDF here.

Modest in Scale

This years' entries will be juried by Doug Stapleton. Stapleton is a visual artist, curator and educator. He is an Assistant Curator of Art with the Illinois State Museum Chicago Gallery and an adjunct faculty in the Interdisciplinary Arts graduate program at Columbia College Chicago.

Eligibility and Media
This exhibition is open to any artist 18 years of age or older residing in the United States of America. Submitted works must be original 2 or 3 dimensional works that do not exceed 12 inches in any dimension (including frame or mount). Film, video and straight digital prints or photographs are not eligible, however works that incorporate digital processes alongside non-digital processes are eligible. There is a weight limitation of 35 pounds. Work that requires special installation can't be accepted.

Awards
Up to $1500 in purchase/merchandise and exhibition awards will be awarded at gallery director’s discretion. First Prize is a Solo show in Abecedarian Gallery’s Reading Room Fall 2013 (specific dates TBD).

Presentation
Works must be delivered ready for hanging/installation/display. For framed work, use plexiglass only. Original work not accurately represented by the digital file may be declined at the discretion of Abecedarian Gallery.

Sales
It is expected that all work exhibited be for sale. Sales will be encouraged. Abecedarian Gallery retains 40% on all sales. The prices you submit electronically are the retail prices the gallery will adhere to throughout the duration of the exhibition. All work will be insured while on premises for 50% of the artist’s stated valuation (maximum valuation $1,000).

Catalogs
There will be a print and online color catalog in conjunction with the exhibition. Print catalogs will be for sale during and after the exhibition. The online catalog will remain online during and after the exhibition. . It is expected that submitting artists are not violating any stated or implied relationship with another gallery or dealer by submitting work for this exhibition.

*Detailed guidelines for shipping accepted work will be sent to artists whose work is accepted into the exhibition, along with a consigment agreement.
