Honoring the extraordinary work of Ghanian palm wine musician Koo Nimo, the book uses papers made by Hark in Kumasi, Ghana of local botanicals. A paper covered clamshell box includes three intaglio prints by Atta Kwami, printed by Pamela Clarkson in Kumasi, a compact disk of Koo Nimo’s music, recorded at his home, with a portfolio of images of the recording session embedded on the CD, and three letterpress pamphlet books. Mary Hark is a papermaker and fiber artist who has worked in Kumasi, Ghana since 2007 to establish the first hand paper mill in West Africa. She is an Assistant Professor of Design Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her work has been exhibited widely, both nationally and internationally.
