I have listened to jazz since I was 13 years old, and have painted and engraved portraits of jazz musicians for the last 45 years.

James Todd has exhibited his work throughout the United States, United Kingdom, Western and Eastern Europe, the Far East, and South America, and for some years has devoted his art to political and social themes. He is Emeritus Professor of Art and Humanities at the University of Montana in Missoula where he was Professor of Arts and Humanities and Printmaking Head in the Department of Art from 1988-2000. Todd is a Senior Fellow (RE) in the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers (England), a member of the Society of Wood Engravers (England), and the Wood Engravers Network (United States). His works are in many collections throughout the United States and in China, Mexico, England and Lithuania.
