My life is spent dancing or making artwork, trying for a balance between the two. One of my recurrent art themes is dance, and tango is the dance I understand best. I aim to let the viewer in on a few of its complexities through the body language and implied relationships of the cast of characters in this book.
The text is tango lyrics in Spanish and English and is faintly visible floating around and through the dancers & musicians. This is a variable edition; each copy has a distinct monotype/drawing on the reverse. The books have mylar wrappers.
Lesley Mitchell makes paintings, prints and artists books in her Philadelphia studio right upstairs from the dance studio where she offers Argentine Tango events. She was trained at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and exhibits her work nationally and internationally.
