Abandoned Tales is a book of folk tales told by Michael Lee, illustrated by Cherie Weaver and printed by Small Fires Press. It is a letterpress printed chapbook on handmade cotton/flax paper. Images and typefaces (Bernhard Modern and Rosewood) are reproduced with photopolymer plates on a Vandercook #4 at the University of Alabama. The book is pamphlet bound with handmade linen/hemp endsheets and cover wraps of handmade paper from wool, linen, cotton, mule dung, and modal.
Friedrich Kerksieck lives in Memphis, Tennessee, where he works as a freelance printer and binder. He operates Small Fires Press. |
