Heidi Zednik received her MFA in Painting from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. A native of Austria and the USA, Heidi has exhibited widely in both countries. Her work is in international private and public collections, notably the state of Linz and the city of Gmunden; in the USA, the University of Utah. She has been a member of the Kunst Forum, Salzkammergut, since 1997. Heidi has participated in collaborative projects, ranging from co-founding the collective Spondere to working with a modern dance company.

Even though I had taken a box of all my usual travel art supplies with me – various papers, watercolor, color pencils and walnut ink – I ended up drawing only in one sketchbook, using my old fountain pen. I’d been watching the rain all day, after a long drought, and had walked through the garden before going into the studio. It is one of the few in the series that I changed very little from its early state. More white was added and then the final red.
