I had been waiting for my father to die from alzheimer’s for many years and shortly after he died, I applied for a fellowship at the Kala Art Institute in Berkeley, CA to print a series of books on ”counting coup.” While waiting to hear about acceptance, I began this journal to design a book a day for 45 days. I didn’t get the fellowship but a year later I found a letterpress and I’ve been making books ever since as counting coup press.

This was the first in a continuing series of books on counting coup. The book consists of handwriting with ink and collage samplings with collage, photocopy, found and ‘real art.’
