Albuquerque, New Mexico Emily’s Trunk binders board, Lokta, Arches, fabric, lace, beads, Eaton Royal Linen paper 31/4 x 55/8 x 4 closed, 53/4 x 55/8 x 4 open edition of 15 © 2008 - $250 The poetry of Emily Dickinson has always been an inspiration to me. The concept for the trunk developed when I found a description of the binding method that Emily used for her hundreds of poems. It seemed only natural to create the trunk and include some of her poetry and a miniature replica of a shawl associated with most pictures of Emily. All elements of Emily’s Trunk are hand produced. The box that serves as the trunk was built layer by layer. It also contains a pamphlet-bound essay that Carol Erickson has taken classes from several book arts professionals, including Julie Chen, Daniel Kelm, Priscilla Spitler, and Laura Wait.
