Topophilia documents my wanderings through the environment of my native Appalachia, and serves as a record of the emotional futility I feel in trying to reconnect with my dead father. The memories of shared experiences with my father act as a topographical map to guide my search for the man I barely knew. Guilt over not having formed a stronger connection with my father while he was alive drives my frustrated search through an environment in which I am simultaneously a native and a stranger.
