POPPYcotton rag, fine art paper by Moab; Japanese silk cover 9 3/8 x 9 3/8 x ¼ © 2012 $200 POPPY is a handmade artist book featuring twelve, warm-tone B/W photographs, each presented as an archival, matte print, measuring 4 x 6 inches. A dried poppy petal mounted under tracing paper appears on the first page; an original poem by Margaret Langhans sets the tone for the pictures. Images themselves are of the iceland poppy, but move well beyond the botanical, challenging our perceptions of them, captured by a play of light and movement and expressed as line, shape and tonality. |
